[Survivor Series] I was struggling to give my son a better childhood due to our weak economic background

I am Seema Banu from Kanpur. My 11-year-old son Ayan Ali’s right leg is shorter than the left, which makes his life difficult as he is unable to walk like the rest of the children his age. 

Due to the limitations, Ayan was not able to further his education. I was struggling to give him a better childhood due to our weak economic background. Even though he is 11-years-old, he still studies in the second grade. To make it worse, due to COVID-19, his classes and tuition had to be halted and could not continue his classes. 

I always dream of my son becoming an engineer in the future. Being my son’s main pillar of support and understanding my child's struggle, I want to nurture and make him successful and become an example. 

However, whenever I see him struggle with his weaknesses, I feel equally weak because I can't do anything other than pray for him. In such a situation, it is really difficult for every parent to take care of their child because their helplessness is unbearable to see. I know it seems impossible to turn a dream into reality but one has to try. 

This is when I visited Narayan Seva Sansthan for a diagnosis. It is an NGO that has been providing free of cost corrective surgeries since 1985 for differently-abled people who hail from economically weaker sections.

Narayan Seva Sansthan gave my son an appointment for surgery for his treatment. We don’t have enough resources or earn enough to treat our child. Treatments are not as affordable which makes it even more difficult for children like Ali to lead a normal life. We think Narayan Seva Sansthan has been doing this noble cause of conducting corrective surgeries for children like Ayan, giving them a different outlook towards life. The surgery conducted at Narayan Seva Sansthan has shown noticeable changes in Ayan as he is able to walk better.
