Netizens take to X, formerly Twitter, to express their thoughts on Union Budget day, and we cannot stop laughing!

Andhra, Bihar, tax: Budget day memes make a comeback

Tuesday July 23, 2024 , 1 min Read

Indian netizens had a field day on X on Tuesday as the newly-elected government tabled its Budget.

During the presentation, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman abolished the long contentious angel tax—a regulation which was a major irritant to investors and startup founders. Andhra Pradesh and Bihar emerged as big winners in the Budget announcements, bagging mega deals and leaving netizens and Twitterati scrambling for memes.

The Budget also allocated a venture capital fund of Rs 1,000 crore corpus for development in the space tech sector and announced a new assessment model for MSME credit.

In fact, Sitharaman became the longest-serving Finance Minister of India as she presented her seventh consecutive budget this year.

Understandably, comments on the Budget flew thick and fast on social media, with several memes supporting and ridiculing the Budget. The “middle-class-income-tax” puns resurfaced as the government announced multiple tax structures and decisions that affect people from all walks of life!

Now, take a respite from the numbers and enjoy these hilariously crafted memes spreading on X. Let the meme fest begin!
